Welcome and thank you for visiting Game and Gun. With technical articles, hunting diaries, photography, reloading and general discussions on Southern African Game, Conservation and Hunting opportunities...
You will find a host of relevant information on our site, even recipes for that tough Guinea Fowl!
Well, much of this site is still in the making, especially the pictures, so please bear with us. Nevertheless, we hope that you will find something useful amongst the articles which have made it into this 'first edition'.
Please give us feedback, and we hope that you will contribute your knowledge to our Forum or submit (email) articles, hunting diaries, etc, for evaluation and possible publication.
The author started 'hunting' as a kid with an air rifle and did his first 'serious' hunting while working in Tanganyika (now Tanzania) in 1960. Other areas of operation were South Africa, South West Africa (now Namibia) and Australia. To get pistol licenses in Oz, it was necessary to belong to a pistol club and shoot at least 12 competition scores a year. This necessitated reloading, to keep costs down, and YT has been at it since 1970. After returning to SA, I have been hunting on game farms, mainly in the Limpopo district. Rifles owned range from .17 to .458 calibre. Besides that there are some 12-bores and a pistol or two.

The idea for the web site really came from my son Harvey, who suggested that it was time I put all my accumulated experience into a form where others might get some value out of it. He then went ahead and developed the site - an enormous piece of work, I think you will agree, especially since it was done alongside his usual hectic photographic workload! We both hope, that there is (will be) something of interest on this site for every hunter and shooter!
Safe shooting and Waidmannsheil!
